Five Busy Honey Bees

Five busy honey bees were resting in the sun.
The first one said, "Let us have some fun."
The second one said, "Where shall it be?"
The third one said, "In the honey tree."
The fourth one said, "Let's make some honey sweet."
The fifth one said, "With pollen on our feet."
The five little busy bees sang their buzzing tune,
As they worked in the beehive all that afternoon.
Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz!

Snow White

The Story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Grimm's Fairy Tale version - translated by Margaret Hunt - language modernized a bit by Leanne Guenther

Once upon a time, long, long ago a king and queen ruled over a distant land. The queen was kind and lovely and all the people of the realm adored her. The only sadness in the queen's life was that she wished for a child but did not have one.

One winter day, the queen was doing needle work while gazing out her ebony window at the new fallen snow. A bird flew by the window startling the queen and she pricked her finger. A single drop of blood fell on the snow outside her window. As she looked at the blood on the snow she said to herself, "Oh, how I wish that I had a daughter that had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony."

Soon after that, the kind queen got her wish when she gave birth to a baby girl who had skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony. They named the baby princess Snow White, but sadly, the queen died after giving birth to Snow White.

Soon after, the king married a new woman who was beautiful, but as well proud and cruel. She had studied dark magic and owned a magic mirror, of which she would daily ask,

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?.

Each time this question was asked, the mirror would give the same answer, "Thou, O Queen, art the fairest of all." This pleased the queen greatly as she knew that her magical mirror could speak nothing but the truth.

One morning when the queen asked, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" she was shocked when it answered:

You, my queen, are fair; it is true.
But Snow White is even fairer than you.

The Queen flew into a jealous rage and ordered her huntsman to take Snow White into the woods to be killed. She demanded that the huntsman return with Snow White's heart as proof.

The poor huntsman took Snow White into the forest, but found himself unable to kill the girl. Instead, he let her go, and brought the queen the heart of a wild boar.

Snow White was now all alone in the great forest, and she did not know what to do. The trees seemed to whisper to each other, scaring Snow White who began to run. She ran over sharp stones and through thorns. She ran as far as her feet could carry her, and just as evening was about to fall she saw a little house and went inside in order to rest.

Inside the house everything was small but tidy. There was a little table with a tidy, white tablecloth and seven little plates. Against the wall there were seven little beds, all in a row and covered with quilts.

Because she was so hungry Snow White ate a few vegetables and a little bread from each little plate and from each cup she drank a bit of milk. Afterward, because she was so tired, she lay down on one of the little beds and fell fast asleep.

After dark, the owners of the house returned home. They were the seven dwarves who mined for gold in the mountains. As soon as they arrived home, they saw that someone had been there -- for not everything was in the same order as they had left it.

The first one said, "Who has been sitting in my chair?"

The second one, "Who has been eating from my plate?"

The third one, "Who has been eating my bread?"

The fourth one, "Who has been eating my vegetables?"

The fifth one, "Who has been eating with my fork?"

The sixth one, "Who has been drinking from my cup?"

But the seventh one, looking at his bed, found Snow White lying there asleep. The seven dwarves all came running up, and they cried out with amazement. They fetched their seven candles and shone the light on Snow White.

"Oh good heaven! " they cried. "This child is beautiful!"

They were so happy that they did not wake her up, but let her continue to sleep in the bed. The next morning Snow White woke up, and when she saw the seven dwarves she was frightened. But they were friendly and asked, "What is your name?"

"My name is Snow White," she answered.

"How did you find your way to our house?" the dwarves asked further.

Then she told them that her stepmother had tried to kill her, that the huntsman had spared her life, and that she had run the entire day through the forest, finally stumbling upon their house.

The dwarves spoke with each other for awhile and then said, "If you will keep house for us, and cook, make beds, wash, sew, and knit, and keep everything clean and orderly, then you can stay with us, and you shall have everything that you want."

"Yes," said Snow White, "with all my heart." For Snow White greatly enjoyed keeping a tidy home.

So Snow White lived happily with the dwarves. Every morning they went into the mountains looking for gold, and in the evening when they came back home Snow White had their meal ready and their house tidy. During the day the girl was alone, except for the small animals of the forest that she often played with.

Now the queen, believing that she had eaten Snow White's heart, could only think that she was again the first and the most beautiful woman of all. She stepped before her mirror and said:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?

It answered:

You, my queen, are fair; it is true.
But Snow White, beyond the mountains
With the seven dwarves,
Is still a thousand times fairer than you.

This startled the queen, for she knew that the mirror did not lie, and she realized that the huntsman had deceived her and that Snow White was still alive. Then she thought, and thought again, how she could rid herself of Snow White -- for as long as long as she was not the most beautiful woman in the entire land her jealousy would give her no rest.

At last she thought of something. She went into her most secret room -- no one else was allowed inside -- and she made a poisoned apple. From the outside it was beautiful, and anyone who saw it would want it. But anyone who might eat a little piece of it would died. Coloring her face, she disguised herself as an old peddler woman, so that no one would recognize her, traveled to the dwarves house and knocked on the door.

Snow White put her head out of the window, and said, "I must not let anyone in; the seven dwarves have forbidden me to do so."

"That is all right with me," answered the peddler woman. "I'll easily get rid of my apples. Here, I'll give you one of them."

"No," said Snow White, "I cannot accept anything from strangers."

"Are you afraid of poison?" asked the old woman. "Look, I'll cut the apple in two. You eat half and I shall eat half."

Now the apple had been so artfully made that only the one half was poisoned. Snow White longed for the beautiful apple, and when she saw that the peddler woman was eating part of it she could no longer resist, and she stuck her hand out and took the poisoned half. She barely had a bite in her mouth when she fell to the ground dead.

The queen looked at her with an evil stare, laughed loudly, and said, "White as snow, red as blood, black as ebony wood! The dwarves shall never awaken you."

Back at home she asked her mirror:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?

It finally answered:

You, my queen, are fairest of all.

Then her cruel and jealous heart was at rest, as well as a cruel and jealous heart can be at rest.

When the dwarves came home that evening they found Snow White lying on the ground. She was not breathing at all. She was dead. They lifted her up and looked at her longingly. They talked to her, shook her and wept over her. But nothing helped. The dear child was dead, and she remained dead. They laid her on a bed of straw, and all seven sat next to her and mourned for her and cried for three days. They were going to bury her, but she still looked as fresh as a living person, and still had her beautiful red cheeks.

They said, "We cannot bury her in the black earth," and they had a transparent glass coffin made, so she could be seen from all sides. They laid her inside, and with golden letters wrote on it her name, and that she was a princess. Then they put the coffin outside on a mountain, and one of them always stayed with it and watched over her. The animals too came and mourned for Snow White, first an owl, then a raven, and finally a dove.

Now it came to pass that a prince entered these woods and happened onto the dwarves' house, where he sought shelter for the night . He saw the coffin on the mountain with beautiful Snow White in it, and he read what was written on it with golden letters.

Then he said to the dwarves, "Let me have the coffin. I will give you anything you want for it."

But the dwarves answered, "We will not sell it for all the gold in the world."

Then he said, "Then give it to me, for I cannot live without being able to see Snow White. I will honor her and respect her as my most cherished one."

As he thus spoke, the good dwarves felt pity for him and gave him the coffin. The prince had his servants carry it away on their shoulders. But then it happened that one of them stumbled on some brush, and this dislodged from Snow White's throat the piece of poisoned apple that she had bitten off. Not long afterward she opened her eyes, lifted the lid from her coffin, sat up, and was alive again.

"Good heavens, where am I?" she cried out.

The prince said joyfully, "You are with me." He told her what had happened, and then said, "I love you more than anything else in the world. Come with me to my father's castle. You shall become my wife." Snow White loved him, and she went with him. Their wedding was planned with great splendor and majesty.

Snow White's wicked step-mother was invited to the feast, and when she had arrayed herself in her most beautiful garments, she stood before her mirror, and said:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?

The mirror answered:

You, my queen, are fair; it is true.
But the young queen is a thousand times fairer than you.

Not knowing that this new queen was indeed her stepdaughter, she arrived at the wedding, and her heart filled with the deepest of dread when she realized the truth - the evil queen was banished from the land forever and the prince and Snow White lived happily ever after.

go rogue and crowdsource คำฮิต

Google Chrome/

คำว่า "ทันสมัย" ฝรั่งเค้าไม่ใช้คำว่า "in trend" อย่างคนไทยหรอกครับ เค้าจะใช้คำว่า "trendy" หรือ "fashionable" ซึ่งเป็นคำคุณศัพท์ที่คุณสามารถวางไว้หน้าคำนามที่ต้องการขยาย เช่น a trendy haircut ทรงผมที่ทันสมัย, a fashionable restaurant ร้านอาหารที่ทันสมัย หรือจะไว้หลัง verb to be เช่น It is trendy. หรือ It is fashionable.
2) เว่อร์ (over) เช่น ใยคนนั้นทำอะไรเว่อร์ๆ She is over. เค้าบอกว่าคุณเดินตั้ง 30 ไมล์ "No - he's exaggerating. It was only about 15."
3) ดูหนัง soundtrack เวลาคุณจะบอกใครว่า ฉันต้องการดูหนังฝรั่งที่พากย์ ภาษาอังกฤษ อย่าพูดว่า "I want to watch a soundtrack film." แต่ควรจะใช้ว่า "I want to watch an English film." เพราะความหมายของคำว่า "soundtrack" คือ ดนตรีที่อยู่ในภาพยนตร์ ต่างหากล่ะครับ ถ้าเราจะพูดถึงหนังฝรั่งที่ พากย์เสียงภาษาไทย เราต้องบอกว่า "I want to watch an English film that is dubbed into Thai." You should watch a closed-captioned film to improve your English.
หรือ He is a freshman. He is a first-year student. เขาเป็นนักศึกษาปี 1 ส่วนปีอื่นๆ คนไทยเรียกถูกแล้วครับ คือ ปี 2 เราเรียก a sophomore, ปี 3 เรียกว่า a junior และ ปี 4 เรียกว่า a senior
He wants to buy a record. I broke my own record. I'll record the film and we can all watch it later.
หรือ "Go Dutch (with somebody)." หรือ "My treat." หรือ "It's on me." หรือ "All is on me." หรือ "I'll pay for you this time." ทั้งหมดแปลว่า มื้อนี้ฉันจ่ายเอง ส่วนถ้าจะบอกเพื่อนว่า คราวหน้าแกค่อยเลี้ยงฉันคืน ให้บอกว่า "It's your treat next time."
We are going to eat outside. Do you want to jam? ในภาษาอังกฤษไม่ใช้คำว่า jam ในกรณีแบบนี้ ซึ่งควรจะใช้ว่า "Do you want to join us?", "Do you want to come with us?" หรือ "Do you want to come along?"
8) เขามีแบ็ค (back) ดี "He has a good back."

I don’t work in Januarys.

How I do to save the world from the global warming.

I will begin with the basic concept of recycling paper, plastic, glass and metal. I will tell everybody what happens when these items are thrown away. For example, if my friend asks why you are recycling plastic grocery bags, I will explain that grocery bags will stayed buried in a landfill for about 100 years.
And I will begin the concept of reuse. Take all of the clothes your children have outgrown and donate them to charity or a women and children's shelter.

What is the global warming?

The suns rays warm the earth. What the earth does not use is reflected by the earth's atmosphere and sent back into space. Greenhouse gases trap this unused heat causing the earth to get too warm.

Best Friends
While the Parents are Away, the Teens Will Play
Cast of Characters
Emily: Emily is an uptight, straight-A student who plays soccer, basketball
and tennis. She is president of the school’s SADD club, is the editor
of the school newspaper, works on the yearbook staff, and has been
accepted to the colleges of her choice. She is the girl everyone loves
to hate. Emily is the conscience of the group.
Paige: Paige is the homecoming queen, the prom queen, and the party queen.
She hosts great parties when her parents are out of town.
Chloe: Chloe is an artist. She sculpts, she paints and she loves to act in the
school plays.
Nick: Nick is very popular with all the girls in the school. He isn’t the
smartest guy in school, but this works to his advantage because all of
the smart girls want to tutor him. Nick only takes part in extracurricular
activities in which he can meet girls or show off his biceps.
Elliott: Elliott is a wisecracking jokester. He’s a huge fan of the practical
joke; no one ever knows what to expect from him. It can be hard to
know when he’s being serious. Elliott enjoys not taking part in any
extracurricular activities.
Evan: Evan is just as uptight as Emily is. He gets just as good grades as she
does but he is a huge klutz, so he doesn’t play any sports. He is,
however, president of the school’s chess club and debate team. Evan
plays the saxophone in the school’s marching band.

Setting
These best friends spend most of their free time in an ice cream shop located around the corner from their school. The name of the ice cream shop is What’s the Scoop? The set can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like it to be. You can arrange six chairs under a What’s the Scoop? sign or you can make a more elaborate setting if you wish. To make it really fun, have your cast members eat real ice cream during the skit. If you choose to make your skit interactive, you can give ice cream to the audience participants.

Scene 1
SETTING:
Emily, Paige, Chloe, Nick, Elliott and Evan are sitting around a table at What’s the Scoop?
Elliott:
So, Paige, are your parents going out of town this weekend?
Paige:
You know it.
Nick:
Sweet! So are you gonna throw another huge party, or what?
Paige:
I was thinking about it, but I got in so much trouble the last time that I’m not sure if I’m gonna.
Chloe:
Yeah, and I got grounded because I told my mom and dad that your parents were home that night. When my mom ran into your mom at the grocery store a few days later, she figured everything out. I was only allowed to leave the house for school and play rehearsal for the next month!
Paige:
Oh, you think that’s bad? I had my cell phone taken away for six weeks, and I could only drive my car to school and back! My dad said that if I had any more parties, he was shipping me off to military school for good.
Emily:
I’ve tried to be really honest with my parents. I think they know that if I’m ever at a party and someone offers me drugs or alcohol that I won’t take anything. Now they pretty much trust that I’ll make good decisions at parties, so they generally let me go out as long as I promise to call if there’s a problem or if I need a safe ride home.
Evan:
You’re so lucky. I’m the youngest in my family, and my parents saw how crazy my older brothers were. Now they don’t let me do anything except go to club meetings and tutoring.
Nick:
Dude, you’re going about this the wrong way. I’m the youngest of six and I do whatever I want. My parents were so tired of punishing my older sisters and brothers that they don’t really pay any attention to me. They’re totally thrilled if I’m not around on the weekends, because they figure I’m with you.
Elliott:
C’mon, Paige, you’re like the queen of parties. This is our senior year. Do you really want to have the lamest senior year in the history of the school? Your parents will never know.
Paige:
(looking to Emily and Chloe for advice) I don’t know. What do you guys think?
Chloe:
Well, if you don’t have a party this weekend, what else will we do? I mean, do you really want to spend one more Saturday night here at What’s the Scoop? It seems like we’ve done that every weekend since we were freshmen.
Paige:
What do you think, Em?
Emily:
I don’t really want to get in the middle of this. I’d love to hang out with you guys as usual, but I don’t want Paige to get in trouble. Plus I don’t want to have to lie to anyone’s parents like I did last time.
Evan:
What are you talking about?
Emily:
Last time Paige had a party, I was everyone’s alibi and it was totally lame. I had such a hard
time keeping the stories straight. Supposedly, Nick was at Elliott’s house, Elliott was at my house (make the hand gesture for quote marks) “working on a project,” and Chloe was staying at Paige’s because she was scared to stay in the house alone while her parents were away. A bunch of people ended up getting wasted and passing out at Paige’s. When I came home from the party, my mom told me that Elliott’s father had called looking for him because Nick’s mom had called Elliott’s house looking for Nick. It was a huge
mess and I swore I’d never do it again.
Nick:
Paige, you can’t let one person talk you out of this. It’s Emily, after all.
She stresses about everything!
Paige:
I don’t know. I’ll think about it tonight and let you guys know tomorrow.

Scene 2
SETTING:
Nick, Chloe and Paige are in the hallway between classes.
Nick:
So, Paige, are you having the party this weekend or what?
Chloe:
Yeah, what did you decide?
Paige:
I don’t know. I was thinking about it all last night. My mom said I could have a friend or two spend the night if I don’t want to stay home alone. I just don’t want the house trashed or for my parents to find out.
Nick:
It’ll be OK. We won’t invite that many people.
Paige:
We? What do you mean “we?”
Nick:
You know what I mean. It’ll just be the six of us and a few of our other friends.
Chloe:
You could invite that cute guy Robbie from your math class.
Paige:
That’s true. It would be the perfect opportunity to get to know him better. (She pauses to think as Nick and Chloe look at her hopefully.)
Oh, OK. It’s senior year, so if we can’t live it up now, when can we?
Nick:
Sweet! I’m going to tell Amanda and Molly, and Ashley and…
Paige:
(interrupting Nick)
I thought we agreed that we wouldn’t invite too many other people.
Nick:
Right, right… of course. Just a few of our closest friends.

Scene 3
SETTING:
The party at Paige’s house (loud music, lots of people)
Paige:
(To Chloe and Emily)
I thought I said a few people. It looks like half the school is here.
Chloe:
I only told the people in my art class.
Emily:
I only told the girls on the soccer team.
Paige:
And Nick probably invited the rest of the girls in the school.
Elliott:
(approaches the girls)
So is this what “just a few people” looks like?
Paige:
I can’t believe how out of control this is. My parents are going to kill me!
Nick:
(approaches the group with a girl on each arm)
Great party, Paige! I think this is the best one yet.
Paige:
It’s not so great if you ask me. I said only a few people. I am going to be in so much trouble, thanks to you.
Nick:
What’s the big deal?
A large group of big guys walks by with a case of beer.
Paige:
That’s the big deal. Where did that beer come from?
Evan:
(staggers over to the group with a can in his hand)
So this is what a senior party is like. I could get used to this.
Elliott:
Yeah, now you just have to actually be a senior.
Emily:
Evan, where’d you get that beer?
Evan:
There’s like two cases in the fridge. I just took one.
Paige:
Oh great. Now people are stocking the fridge with beer? I’m dead.
Emily:
(to Paige)
This is getting a little out of control. Do you want me to help you ask people to leave?
Paige:
Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.
Emily starts to walk around the group and asks people to leave.
Chloe:
What about the people who’ve been drinking?
Paige:
What about them?
Chloe:
Well, you don’t want them driving, do you?
Paige:
Oh no. I didn’t even think of that.
Elliott:
Yeah. Good point, Chloe. If people get pulled over, they’ll be in serious trouble. I hear that .02 law is pretty serious.
Chloe:
What’s that?
Elliott:
Well, basically it says that since it’s illegal for anyone who’s under 21 to drink to drive, if you get caught driving with even a drop of alcohol in your system, you’re screwed.
Paige:
What am I going to do? This is a nightmare. I knew I shouldn’t have let Nick talk me into this.
Chloe:
Let’s just worry about getting people out of here and getting them home safely. Emily’s already asked a bunch of people to leave. Let’s get rid of the beer so that no one drinks anymore.
Elliott:
I’ll stand by the door and not let anyone who has been drinking leave. Should I make them call their parents?
Paige:
Oh, yeah, right. Like anyone’s going to do that.
Elliott:
Well, what other choice do they have? We can’t let people drive if they’ve been drinking and we don’t really want them to have designated drivers either, because that makes it seem like it’s OK that they’ve been drinking. I’ll just let them use my cell phone to call their parents.
When the parents arrive, you can explain that you didn’t buy the beer and that when people showed up with it, you asked everyone to leave and threw the rest away.
Paige:
That sounds like a terrible plan. Not only are my parents going to find out when they get back, but all these people’s parents will find out that their kids have been drinking, and I’m going to be in some serious trouble.
Evan:
Well, your other choice is to call the cops, and I’m sure dealing with them is going to be a lot scarier than dealing with your parents. But if you think it’s too out of control, maybe you should call them even if you do it anonymously.
Chloe:
I think Elliott’s right. Parents will be so glad that you asked their kids to call them so that they wouldn’t get arrested or have an accident. If you just let them leave, you could end up being responsible if anything happens to people because they drank in your house.
Paige:
I guess that’s really the safest thing to do then, isn’t it? (Chloe, Elliott and Evan agree.) I’m going to start by taking this away from you. (She takes the can from Elliott) You’re one of my friends and I need your help to get everyone out of here and home safely. If you’re drinking, that totally sends the wrong message.
Emily:
Returning to the group
Elliott, you and Paige and I should go stand by the door with our phones. Be prepared, because I think people are going to be pretty upset at us for making them call their parents.
Chloe:
Where’s Nick?
Evan:
I think I saw him out on the deck with the cheerleaders.
Paige:
Has he been drinking?
Evan, Chloe, Elliott and Emily look at one another and shrug their shoulders.
Elliott:
Well, if no one knows for sure, we should probably make him call home.
Evan:
Oh, he’ll love that.
Paige:
Too bad. I’d rather he’s mad at us than dead because we let him drive
after drinking.
Emily:
Let’s get moving. People are starting to leave.

Scene 4
SETTING:
The group is sitting around the table at What’s the Scoop?
Chloe:
So, Paige, did you get in a ton of trouble?
Paige:
Let’s just say that my parents won’t be going out of town again until I leave for college. And I probably won’t be leaving the house until then, either.
Emily:
But they must have been proud of the way that you handled the situation.
Paige:
Yeah, they were. They were just upset that I made the choice to invite people over in the first place. But they were glad that we didn’t just let people leave and that we made them call their parents.
Nick:
My parents thought I was pretty stupid for drinking, but they said I was lucky to have friends like you guys who helped me make the safest possible choice.
Evan:
Did you hear what happened to Big Mike?
Elliott:
The football player?
Evan:
Yeah. He got thrown off the team because the coach found out that he was the one who brought the beer to the party. He is not happy, because now he lost his chances for an athletic scholarship to college since he can’t play in his senior year.
Elliott:
That's a bummer, but he made a bad choice. The coach made a really big deal about not drinking at the beginning of the year. Mike knew he’d get kicked off the team if he got caught.
Paige:
Well, I’m just thankful that I had all of you to help me through a tough situation. I think from now on we should just stick to hanging out here. It’s just not worth getting in trouble. Everyone else agrees, and they all dig into their ice cream.
